Speculation thread
(08-19-2017, 11:12 PM)the reaper Wrote: I am starting to wonder, more than I did last season about the tactical capability of the current management team.  For once I agree with RSB,  the squad is capable of giving a very good account of themselves this season.  Is the management capable of it?  My previous post on the Aberdeen questions the position and deployment of players in the Aberdeen game.  Worried already.

The manager is hell bent on making the work of Youth coaches in vain he seems like he wants to clean out anything they coach , before the !! Give the manager time brigade start !!! He is nit just in the door
He walks tightrope ,I for one hope Roy talks to him about ,where hecwoukd like a long holiday

I don't think we are finished in the transfer window - think we are short at the back especially if Davies gets injured / suspended...and we could do with another winger / striker....

The winger has been on everybody's wish list since before the window opened, other than Jim it would appear! We are desperate for more of a cutting edge up front, I don't know who's available, but there must be someone that'd give us some more service for the likes of McKay, whenever hear up to speed.

Once we  farm out youth players to get rid of wage ,that was the idea of getting them on first team squad contract , we will then bring others in , hopefully we can start getting points early or it becomes so difficult catch up.

You've said this a number of times Buffy but I'm still not sure I follow your reasoning.  As I understand it, the borrowing club does not usually cover all of a loan player's wages, leaving the host club to pick up the difference.  That may be worthwhile and sensible for a number of reasons.

Surely if your aim was only to save wages you would just not offer a first team squad contract in the first place?

For me, a much more likely reason for offering a contract and then loaning a player out is that the management team thinks that the player has (or may have) a future, but is just not ready yet for the highest league in the land, and would benefit from regular play at a lower level.  And that even though it means using up some valuable player wage budget. In other words, a vote of confidence.

Or have I got the wrong end of your stick?

i did not realise the host  club  payed only half the  the wages , to cut long story short why are we dumping our home bred players and bringing  in other youth players , accomadation has to be found for  players coming in , if they are on same deal as youth players very expensive ,
Wicky the sooner we get back to reserve team football ,if   youth is going to learn let him do it within his own clubs structure , under 20 playing against each other   Every week Just not good on advancement as we can see.
But if a youth gets into reserve team the experienced players will push him to get their mortgages paid  so reserve is probably the way ,
Look I spent all morning watching training  must say Draper and Morrison plus others looked very cumbersome ,a stand out for  me was Russell,Dingwall. He was a yard faster than any of them  really looking good ,I hear he is spending loads of time in gym too !! Dedication !! IMO he should get a spell if even coming of bench ,this lad is as good as some and better than others getting games in front of him
Great pity if he is sent away without support getting opportunity to see if he can make it ,in my opinion he can make it ,
The wee lad Davies looked good the other  night probably MOM then gets dropped right out of squad for Motherwell game !! Confusing!! If midge gets injured what have we got going forward , Davies injured  ooooo mun , justva pity we didn't get Simon Murray instead of his last year team mate Meikelson  Tory Andre Flo comes to mind. Capital U ,anyway hope you are in good health ,
We need Billy Mackay to hit the ground running hopefully he will, he IS a good player coukd do with bigger bloke minder type with him,Lui Moult would do hard as nails goes right through people ,boy we need something like that  get Draper fit ,he has not been fully fit in two seasons now
Wee Davie played against Forfar stand out

Thanks Buffy, all well here, I think.  I first heard about "Tony's wee brother" about four years ago so I am not surprised to hear that he is impressing.  I also agree that DKD looks a good prospect.  I certainly thought he was the stand out in the couple of Dev League games I caught last season.

I would be surprised if either of them is put out on loan, and with Blair, Dylan and Reghan also retained that seems to me like a good intake from last year's development team.  Keep too many and they won't get any game time at all, which must be much worse than loaning them out.

I've lost the place with the U20's/U21's/Dev team.  Is the thing we won last season still known as the Development League this year?  Or is it now U20's as in the Challenge Cup?

Back to the first team, I do not think we will be far off when Draper is fit and Curran strikes up a partnership with Mckay like he had with Boycie.  There will be plenty of opportunities through injuries and suspensions for the youngsters if we don't have any more signings before the window closes.

I'd say that a CVA is a good enough excuse Buff. That's why I wanted you to know I wasn't being smart. I totally understand how these things work. You'll get there I'm sure and until you do I'll keep questioning you as it's good 'exercise' for your grey matter!  Angel

So the same type of player that we've obviously needed for ages now?  Sad

That's great news, its so refreshing to see our youth get loan moves to a decent level, rather than Highland League.
Stevie May is one example who seemed to benefit hugely from the loan system.

Really hope Morrison can make an impact there, if he goes.
