Elgin - Cup Match

With the first competative match of the season under a week away now, who is all heading to Boroughbriggs next Saturday ?

A lot of history between the teams, but this is only our second cempetative match against then since highland league days, but our first in Elgin.

Also a lot of familiar faces in the Elgin team, such as Craig Gunn, Jason Crooks, Mark Nicholson, Barry Wilson and Ross Jack as manager.

It would be good to get a good crowd down at Elgin and to get the season off to a good start.

I'm looking forward to it. It's not often we get an away trip without the long trek down the A9!

It should be a fairly comfortable win for us, unless Elgin have made huge improvements to their squad over the summer?

What away crowd can we expect to get here, a few hundred? Hopefully as it will be the nearest away game for the whole season unless we draw the tinks in a cup.

Just doesn't quite fit in with my lad's school holidays. We have to make do with Livi and Cowdenbeath. A decent day out, though, not too far away, and a fair number of the Elgin fans are rather on the posh side, Barbour jackets and clipped accents when my lad and I were there last!

I miss the game due to being in Thailand but I'll be glued to the BBC website for updates. County should win by a couple of goals.

McGovern
Miller Boyd Gregersen Morrison
Smith Brittain Lawson Vigurs
Barrowman Craig

i would go with vigurs and craig, both enjoying a good pre season. i say that just i notice posts above each have one not playing. Vigurs ability and scoring goals for fun, how can you keep him out the team.

Aye, I'll be heading up on the train through to Elgin just after 12 or so. Hopefully get a good run out against a team we should be beating with ease, but I'm expecting a lot of the Elgin lads to try and prove themselves against us.

Team:

McGovern
Miller Boyd Gregersen Scotty Mo
Smith Brittain Lawson Vigurs
Barrowman Di Giac

Would like Corcoran to get a second half run out.

Score Prediction 3-1 or 4-1

Think McCormack looked better than Gregersen on Saturday, more relaxed on the ball and wanted to get it down, etc. And also think he'll stick with the tried and tested midfield for the first bit of the game until its out of site,(hopefully), then bring on Smith etc. for a piece of the sction.

McGovern
Miller Boyd McCormack Scotty Mo
Brittain Lawson Scott Vigurs
Barrowman Di Giacomo

Stuart Kettlewell is suspended for this game, which is a run-over of bookings from last season's ALBA cup.

Just had a quick check on other suspensions, and although this season's lists are not updated yet, I think Stuart Kettleweel is the only suspension for this weekend, we have none for the following week's Co-Op cup, but into the league and Paul Lawson and Stuart Kettlewell are both suspended.

Agree to an extent - i would go with

McGovern
Miller Boyd McComack Scotty Mo
Smith Brittain Vigurs Corcoran
Craig Wood

I would put woody and craig up front purely cause i thought the linked well together at Forres and complemented each other better than i have seen out of all the pairings.

Smith and corcoran added much needed width and looked impressive

Vigurs over lawson because i think Lawson still a bit away from match fitness - and i feel vigurs is more creative

but only my opinion
