Personally, I wouldn't accept less than £100K for him at this stage of the season, and I can't see many teams in the SPL having that sort of money
to spend

It's in the Ross Shire this week - Adams has said he won't even consider a bid of less than 100k for Rankin! - Good News!

From the TeamTalk.com website:
First Division Ross County have issued a "hands off" warning to Motherwell over midfielder John Rankin, who has scored nine goals this season.
Manager Terry butcher is tracking the 22-year-old former Manchester United youngster, who was the target of a failed St Mirren bid last week.
County director of football George Adams said: "John is going nowhere. He is a valuable part of our squad for our long-term plan to take us to the
SPL."

Who the h3ll would score our goals if we sold him, we are lying in 3rd place with a chance of promotion, if we sell our best players this season I may
have to start supporting my uncle's home town team instead. KV Ostend !

Hmmm, we've just been given upwards of 200k for Brewster. 100k seems pittance for the lad.....

COUNTY ACE RANKIN HAS SCOTLAND VISION
09:00 - 16 January 2006
John Rankin might have to wait a few years yet before getting the chance to team up with his mate Darren Fletcher in a Scotland team, but he knows
playing in the SPL would be a step towards achieving that goal.
Ross County midfielder Rankin was part of Manchester United's youth set-up alongside Fletcher before moving north to join the Dingwall side.
Being shown the door at Old Trafford never curtailed his ambition to do big things in football and his performances this term, which have taken him to
the top of the First Division's scoring charts, suggest he is going places.
Rankin's display during Saturday's draw with Dundee at Dens Park was not as spectacular as his three-goal show the last time he faced the Dark
Blues. He did, however, brighten up the game with glimpses of cultured football in an otherwise untidy affair.
The 22-year-old has not given up hope of helping County into the top flight, but knows he could leave them this month, with St Mirren having already
had a bid for him turned down.
Rankin said: "I still think Ross County can make it to the SPL and I would be more than happy if I was to stay at the club and try to help them do
it.
"But I know St Mirren put in a bid for me and it got knocked back. I have to admit it is nice to be linked with a team at the top of the division. I
don't hide the fact I want to be playing in the SPL, as that would be another stepping stone in my career.
"I am often in touch with Darren, and what he has achieved provides me with plenty of motivation. I am at least three steps away from being anywhere
near to playing alongside him in the Scotland team, but surely there is nothing wrong with striving for such things."

Ominous sign that 'but'. I believe even more now he wishes for an immediate step up rather than a move to Gretna which means at least one more
season in div.1, I don't think that would do him much good at all.
It'll be another long week of [Censored] talking by the looks of it.

Why would anyone pay £100,000 for John Rankin?
If we paid that for him it'd be an absolute outrage!

Too right. Other Caley fans are talking about 125k.
Scott Leitch. Scott Leitch. Scotty Scotty Leitch.
Life's a beach,
The Champion's League is in reach,
Now we've got Scott Leitch.

He's been in the papers. All month. Rankin will be in the Scotland Futures squad if there's a game, regardless of whether he merits his
chance or not.

I missed this one in yesterdays record:
RANKIN STILL HANKERING FOR A SWITCH TO BUDDIES
Darren Cooney
HE was a Fergie fledgling who found sanctuary in Dingwall but now John Rankin is ready to spread his wings once again.
The 22-year-old joined Ross County in 2003 after suffering the crushing disappointment of being told he wasn't good enough for Manchester United.
It was a blow that hit him with such force it has taken him until this season to fully snap out of his stupor.
Rankin has shot to the top of the scoring charts with 12 goals from midfield, a record that prompted champions-elect St Mirren to table a bid.
County knocked it back but after a goalless draw at Dundee, the Lanarkshire lad spoke of his burning desire to swap the Highlands for the high
life.
Rankin said: "Of course I'd like to further my career, although I am happy here.
"The club told me they got a bid from St Mirren which was knocked back. I don't know the figures but I'm like any player - I'd love to be in the
top league.
"It's looks like St Mirren will play in the SPL next season although we'll keep battling.
"I've got 18 months left on my contract but George Adams has said if an SPL team comes in they will let me go.
"George doesn't want to stand in my way. He's already said I have underachieved to be at County in the first place."
The Evening Times also said last night he will sign for Midden this week.

Still think it'll take at least a hungred grand to take him. with 18 months still on his contract and a few clubs sniffing about, we'll get that
easy.

Rankin is not County's best player. Full stop, period, GUARANTEED.
There's a spellcheck button for a reason.

Very Very reliable source from club - the words spoken yesterday by this person were "Rankin is going nowhere!" - believe it folks - he is going
