He did. Sunderland have reached rock bottom. They’re going to be playing in League 1, which is absolutely brutal standard, with a budget higher than Celtic’s. For Jack Ross, it was a no-brainer. They’ll steamroller the league and then reinvest for next season to try and get to the Premier League.

The question is for a player like Naismith, is if the budget is worth the step down in standard for a season worth the massive hike in salary? I’d imagine it’d be very hard to turn it down should they make an offer. Had we stayed up, it’d be a harder call.
